NIC Partners is in search of a Senior Project Manager to lead our projects in Northern California. We offer a great compensation package that includes paid vacation, 6 sick days, 11 paid holidays, and kpi bonus structure.

Position Summary
The Sr. PM will lead low-voltage and physical security construction projects across our Northern California SLED (State, Local, and Education) accounts. This role owns project execution from kickoff through closeout — scope, schedule, budget, subcontractors, customer communication, and quality.

Travel Requirements
  • Initial Training: Minimum two (2) weeks onsite in Southern California at the start of employment. We'll cover travel and lodging and fly the candidate home on weekends.
  • Ongoing: Periodic travel to Southern California as needed for unity meetings, leadership syncs, and key project milestones.

Work Schedule / Onsite Expectations
Because the majority of our work is in K–12 and higher education environments, this PM will spend roughly 30–40% of their time onsite after school hours (typically late afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends) to minimize disruption to students and staff.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Project Management Background
  • 7+ years managing construction-style, low-voltage installation projects end-to-end.
  • Comfortable running multiple concurrent projects, managing field crews and subcontractors, and owning P&L at the project level.
  • Hands-on experience with estimating and scoping — able to walk a site, read drawings, and produce or validate a take-off.
  • Prior SLED experience strongly preferred (school districts, community colleges, municipalities, county/state agencies). Familiarity with prevailing wage, DIR, DSA processes, bond-funded work, and public-sector procurement is a major plus.
Technical Domain Experience (the more of these, the better)
  • Cloud-based video surveillance systems (Verkada, Avigilon, Genetec, Eagle Eye, Rhombus, or similar)
  • Structured network cabling — Cat 6/6A copper and fiber optic (single-mode and multi-mode), termination, testing, and certification
  • Route/switch installation and configuration (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, or comparable)
  • Fiber infrastructure — backbone, OSP/ISP, splicing coordination
  • Access control systems (Verkada, Genetec, Avigilon, LenelS2, Brivo, Openpath, or similar)
  • Visitor management platforms (Raptor, Verkada Guest, HID, etc.)
  • Environmental / IoT sensors (vape, sound, occupancy, air quality — Verkada, HALO, etc.)
Software & Tools
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite — Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Comfortable with construction PM platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) and estimating tools.
Soft Skills / Other
  • Polished customer-facing communication — this PM will interface directly with district IT directors, facilities leads, GCs, and architects.
  • Self-directed; able to operate from a Northern CA home base while staying tightly aligned with the Southern California leadership team.
  • Valid CA driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass district background checks (LiveScan/fingerprinting).
Salary - up to $135,000.00 for the right candidate.
