Job Title:  Accounting Clerk
Dept.:  Corporate

Job Purpose:
The Accounting Clerk reports directly to the Controller and performs a variety of duties relating to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general reporting. The Accounting Assistant provides general accounting and clerical support to the corporate department.  The Accounting Assistant MUST:
 
  • Provide a positive “Can-Do” attitude and show positivity through teamwork
  • Respond to inquiries in-person, over the phone and via email
  • Apply discretion and trust with confidential material

Essential Job Functions:
  • Processes vouchers for service-related vendor invoices and non-PO vendor invoices
  • Processes all AP checks, weekly reporting, and wire payments
  • Research, track, and resolve vendor invoice discrepancies or any other accounting problems
  • Reconciles vendor statements
  • Processes AR Invoices for service
  • Enters cash receipt transactions daily
  • Reconciles bank statements
  • Maintain vendor and customer information in the accounting system
  • Handles vendor maintenance, credit application, and insurance updates
  • Processes expenses in the accounting system to create vouchers for payment
  • Prepares weekly reports for sales bookings and cash receipts

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Responds and reacts professionally, promptly, and courteously to information requests from employees, customers, and vendors
  • Attends required meetings for collaboration and communication efforts
  • Adheres to and participates in NICP’s continuous performance management processes, including performance evaluations and monthly one-on-one meetings with the manager
  • Open to some overtime on a "need to" basis. 
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and safety rules
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities, as required or assigned by the manager

Experience/Education:
  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school
  • 2+ years related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and job experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
General:  Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently with little supervision required; ability to follow verbal and written instructions;  ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company information.

Technical:  Excellent understanding of PC and standard Office software and hardware.

Personal: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Communication:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Salary range $20 - $24.50 an hour
